Pickin' On The Hill ~ Donated to Houlton High School Alumni Fund

If you've picked potatos early in the morning, you will probably identify with this scene. It's still chilly, the potatos and ground feel damp and cold, and your muscles are still sore from yesterday. But...you'd better pick steadily before the day heats up and it gets more difficult to keep up with the digger. As a former picker, I always liked the smell of the dirt, the smell of the air, and the sound of the digger when it was off in another field! I remember how you could be alone amidst others and enjoy both quiet and jump into conversations at times. I'm still looking for a pack of the old tickets we'd stick in the barrels. This painting was created specifically to donate to the Houlton High School Alumni Fund for the Multi-Year Reunion, July 2010.
